Computer Education
Institute of Computer Sciences started its training programs when PC Computers were not introduced in the Indian Market. It used to impart training on Main Frame Computers, Punch Card machines, Magnetic Tape devises etc. During those days Programming Languages like COBOL, FORTRAN , PASCAL etc. were in use.
When Personal Computers (PC) with Disc Operating Systems (MS-DOS) started gaining popularity, the Institute expanded its training programs in the schools and provided technical assistance in number of Computer Awareness Campaigns. Many Government Organizations, Banks and Public Sector Undertaking also participated in the training programs organized by the Institute.
To promote Computer applications in Hindi, The Institute of Computer Sciences provided its services to SEWS India through its counterpart ‘Sanganak Vigyan Sansthan’ - संगणक विज्ञान संस्थान . Number of Conferences, workshops and training programs were organized on Hindi Computer.
With the objective to promote computer application in Official Language (Hindi), in November 1995, a Hindi Computer Workshop was organized in Goa, which was attended by the senior officers of Government Undertakings from all over India. The purpose of the workshop was to make the senior officers aware of computer application in Hindi and provide them opportunity to discuss the subject across the organizations for its successful implementation.
System Analysis & Software development
From 1986 onwards the Institute has been providing System Analysis & Designing services. Some of the organizations who availed its services are : The British India Corporation Ltd. Cawnpor Woolen Mills branch (a Govt. of India company) Kanpur, K’ & Co. – Organizer of Sikkim Govt. Lottery, The Punjab & Sind Bank (Staff Training College), National Center for Mushroom Research and Training (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) Solan, Shimla, MAC Export India, New Delhi etc..The Institute has developed software packages for lottery organizers, for Garment Exporters, for Drugs and Medicines Stockiest etc.. It has also developed Inventory Control package for a Public Limited Company with number of branches and Specialized Financial Accounting package.
Department of Maths & Science
In 1992 the Institute of Computer Sciences started multimedia based teaching programs in maths and science. Such programs were highly appreciated by the students because they were able to see the demonstration of the phenomena & system on computers which they were studying in theory. These programs made subjects more understandable and interesting. The performance of the students was monitored with the help of performance indicators designed on computer. Such practices proved to be very successful for getting excellent results in examinations. These activities are organized under the Department of Maths & Science of the Institute.3D Printing
Considering the fact that 3D printing is an emerging technology which is expected to replace the traditional fabrication methods and manufacturing processes, in 2015 The Institute of Computer Science has started 3D Printing Training programs for schools and industries.
